BRIEF BACKGROUND:

I’m an ex Ballet dancer who, owing to a heart condition, had to retire 7 years ago. Since then I have retrained as a Choreographer/Dance practitioner who works mainly with young people. My usual working day is fairly active but far below the kind of thing I would have done as a dancer. Because of the decrease in activity, generally ageing a bit and still keeping the eating and drinking habits of a 22 year old, I found myself putting on a lot of weight, losing flexibility, becoming weak (particularly core strength and legs) and getting tired easily. I joined a local gym at the beginning of 2012 and worked hard to improve my situation with very little results. I met Neville in March and started training with him and then Michael from then.
TARGET GOALS:

  • goals you set initially,
  • Body fat loss
  • Lean muscle increased
  • Hypertrophic muscle increased

WHAT DID YOU ACHIEVE?:

  • Goals achieved (bodyweight, body fat %) how do you feel about yourself now….)
  • 27% BFI down to 16% (I think. I need to check to check this)
  • Body weight down from 88kg to 74kg
  • Lean muscle mass 62.0 (again need to check….)
  • Suppleness gained
  • Strength increased
  • Energy increased

Right now I feel quite smugly proud of myself! I recently had to have a check up at the heart hospital (a annual thing but this year was a big one with many comprehensive technical tests including an exercise test). I was determined to smash any record of the exercise test. However, they sent me home after weighing me, checking my pulse and listening to my chest. They said I was beyond expectations and the was no need to do any tests!! (Secretly I was disappointed not to have a crack at the exercise test record!)

HOW YOU GOT THERE:
Diet, exercise, supplement (biosignature) programme, how you found the changes etc
I made sweeping changes to my diet with the guidance of Elaine and Neville and the biosignature programme. I continue to take various supplements – cod liver oil, probiotics, multi vitamins, protein drinks, Green Tea and organic raw cocoa to aid fat loss and increase dopamine levels

WHY WOULD YOU RECOMMEND DUO?
Bloody hell yeah! The trainers all offer something different but there is a general positivity, calmness and support from all. The atmosphere is always welcoming and great fun to boot! They are very focussed on your programme goals and expertly place to monitor, support and challenge you at every step. I have recently been training with Michael who has an encyclopaedic knowledge coupled with a calm, intelligent approach. Having grown up training as a Classical Ballet dancer I have had my fair share of being shouted at by my coaches. This always put me off having a PT – particularly as I paradoxically have to take care of my heart as well as manage my habit of pushing myself too far. At Duo I have found the perfect balance between trainers that will push me and challenge me whilst I remain confident in their knowledge, expertise and approach to keep me safe.
